What are the Library hours?
The Library is available for appointments during weekday museum hours: Thursdays and Fridays, 11am–4pm. Final entry into the Library on both days is at 3pm.
How do I make an appointment?
Once you've chosen all your books, click "My Book List" to fill out your appointment details and submit your request. Someone from our Collections Department will be in touch within three to five business days about scheduling your visit. If you have any other questions, please contact library@posterhouse.org.
Am I allowed to browse the shelves in the Library once I'm there?
While you may take additional books off the shelves during your time in the Library, please do not re-shelve them. A member of staff will assist in logging all your used books after your departure.
Do I need to bring anything with me during my appointment? Is anything prohibited?
A Photo ID is required to enter the Library, which will be logged at the Info Desk. Please bring your own notepads, pencils (not pens), laptops, and other recording devices. Food and drink are not permitted in the Library. Complimentary coat check is provided, as coats and other large items are not permitted in the Library. Any bags brought into the Library will be checked prior to the return of your ID.
Can I take photographs or make scans during my visit?
Photographs or scans for research purposes are allowed; however, we do not authorize the reproduction of any photos, scans, or other copies created on site. We do not have equipment available for photographing or scanning, but visitors are welcome to use personal devices and applications.
I can’t visit in person. Will the Library scan materials or research a topic for me?
While our staff will gladly answer basic questions about poster history, in-depth research must be done on site by the person requesting the information. We cannot provide scanned material over email.
What about copyright?

I would also like to explore Poster House’s permanent collection. Can I arrange for this to happen on the same day?
Items in Poster House’s permanent collection that are not currently on display are not available for public access. Scholars and museum professionals who wish to see specific posters in person should contact our Registrar to discuss the feasibility of the request.
