Off the Wall: Hockney Posters
Hockney, David | 1994
This is a companion volume to Hockney's Posters, a selection of posters taken from Brain Baggott's collection. Hockney was interested in a variety of media, which enabled his work to travel across the boundaries of fine art. His posters are examples of this diversity. Following on the artistic tradition of the late 19th-century masters such as Toulouse-Lautrec and the German artists of the 1920s, his work uses experimental techniques and unusual materials, and his posters were used to advertise his own exhibitions and shows, as well as plays, operas and dance performances.
